My Journey: From Mindless Eating to Mindful Living

For years, I struggled with my weight. Like many, I was a fast, often mindless eater, leading to a constant battle with the scales and my self-image. I was fluctuating between 90 and 95kg, feeling frustrated and always looking out for a sustainable a solution.

The surprising breakthrough came from an unexpected place: my five-year-old daughter. She was a wonderfully curious but incredibly slow and fussy eater, easily distracted by TV or books. To help her, I experimented with a crude, early version of what would become ZenMunch. I trained an AI model on her munching videos, and this basic app provided gentle nudges to keep her focused on her meal, helping her eat more efficiently.

Watching her progress, a lightbulb went off. If this technology could help someone eat faster and more mindfully in one context, could an opposite application help me slow down and be more present with my food?

The answer was a resounding yes. I began using a reversed version of the app on myself, and the results were transformative. Within six months, I went from 90kg to 81kg, simply by becoming more aware of my eating pace and habits. In just three more months, I reached a healthy 78kg – a weight I hadn't seen in years. And ofcourse, I had to go fo a a celebratory photoshoot to mark this personal achievement!

This victory, achieved with a simple, rough prototype, convinced me of ZenMunch's potential. Having always struggled with obesity, I saw firsthand the profound impact this small change could make.
